After the Xiaomi FiMi A3 the next Quadrocopter comes from FiMi which is distributed by Xiaomi. The Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE is a high-end drone with a relatively small size where you can also fold the arms. The most interesting features are the 3-axis Gimbal + the 4k camera. But the FIMI X8 SE has much more to offer and is therefore an alternative to the DJI Mavic Air or the newly released Hubsan H117S Zino.
As already mentioned in the preface, the Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE has a 3-axis gimbal and a camera that resolves in 4k. With the Gimbal you get nice quiet, not blurred pictures and shots. The 4k camera records 30 frames per second (FPS). For the human eye 30FPS are sufficient to detect a smooth video.
This way, data is neatly stored on the microSD cards. 100 Mbit per second are written to the memory. So you should not use a cheap microSD card here! A U3 card with minimum 8GB and maximum 64GB is recommended. The Sony IMX378 is used as camera sensor. The most important key data of the sensor: 1/2.3 inch sensor with 12MP (MegaPixel), aperture f/2.2.
With 720FPS, so still HD quality, you can start a decent slow motion recording. Videos are saved in MP4 format and pictures in JPG. The images can also be saved in DNG format (similar to RAW). A 3-fold digital zoom is also possible during the flight. What else is possible with the camera, you can read below.
