Himedia S1 – a tiny TV Dongle with Android TV and Google certificate

The Chinese company Himedia, known for its high-quality media players, has presented its new development under the name Himedia S1. This is a small device designed exclusively for streaming streaming. Runs under the operating system Android TV 8.0 certified by Google. Comes with the TV Dongle comes a remote control with a microphone running via Bluetooth, through which you can use Google Assistant .

Himedia S1 operates on the basis of SoC Hisilicon Hi3798M V200, which includes a quad-core processor with ARM Cortex-A53 cores and a Mali-450MP graphics processor that is used in the TV set-top box Himedia Q30. This chipset also includes an integrated audio DAC with DD and DTS 7.1 licenses and two integrated video processor cores with decoding H.265 and VP9 with 10-bit color. The system can include a choice of 1 or 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of eMMc memory.

From the wireless interfaces there is WiFi Dual Band ac and Bluetooth 4.2. Since the device is extremely compact, it has few ports, only a micro HDMI 2.0a output and a micro USB port for 5 V / 1A, which can be connected directly to the USB port of the TV.

This model has Widevine and PlayReady DRM certificates, so it can play video in 4K quality with Netflix and Amazon Prime. At the moment, the date of the beginning of sales and the approximate prices for Himedia S1 are unknown.
