The Xiaomi Mi A1 recently received a successor in the form of the Mi A2 and can now be ordered in a cheaper Lite version than Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite from just $174.99 on Coolicool.com. Again, a pure Android operating system with Android One certification is used: that means many, long-term updates without much waiting by the manufacturer. The hardware in the Lite model is well-known and has only been extended by the 5.84″ 18: 9 display with notch / notch / notch. As SOC the well-known Snapdragon 625 has been installed and the usual choice between 3 + 32 and 4 + 64GB memory equipment is also preserved.
The actual Xiaomi Mi A2 is much faster than the Lite version, because instead of the nimble Snapdragon 660, the Snapdragon 625, which was built in the predecessor, is used again . Why you did not bet on the slightly faster Snapdragon 636 is probably due to the already low price. Like the identical Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, the Mi A2 Lite also uses a notch / cores / notch in the display, in which the sensors and camera lens with 5 megapixels are now located.
The display itself now measures 5.84 inches at 2280 × 1080 pixels resolution in 19: 9 format.
The Snapdragon 625 is still fast enough to be a faithful companion in everyday life, with up to 2 GHz clock the system runs accordingly fast. The memory is currently specified with 3 + 32GB and 4 + 64GB larger or better equipped models do not exist. In all available versions the still often needed LTE band 20 (VoLTE) is integrated. Thanks to the Android One support, you will initially receive the German (or other languages) as well.
The dual camera with a 12 + 5 megapixel Sony IMX486 sensor at a f / 2.2 aperture. The front camera also uses a 5 megapixel Sensor.
In addition to the Dual-Sim Triple slot for 2 Nano Sim cards + Micro-SD for memory expansion dual-band WLAN, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Micro-USB and the 3.5mm headphone jack are installed and usable. The fingerprint sensor is located on the back. The alternative method of unlocking the phone face-to-face ( Face Unlock ) is also possible.
The battery is in contrast to Mi A1 now grown to 4000mAh capacity. That should increase the already good running time again considerably.
Really great news does not offer the Mi A2 Lite to the Mi A1. If you are expecting more or looking for an increased performance, you should check out the Xiaomi Mi A2look at. We already have a test in the form of the Xiaomi Mi 6X, which is identical in construction but dispenses with Volume 20 and Android One and uses the usual Xiaomi MIUI 9 as an adapted Android version.
Visually, Xiaomi now also points to the dubious trend of Notch in the display. However, there is no real added value on Android, as often the otherwise visible icons / information now disappear because of the smaller space and are only visible on the lock screen or by pulling down. Otherwise, not much has changed. The Snapdragon 625 in the 14 nm manufacturing process is still reliable in 2018 and is quite energy efficient. The larger battery also gives you a better runtime. How well the two cameras will cut off but only the upcoming test reports show. As expected, but should be able to convince the pictures here. Who uses the predecessor but will probably find few reasons to switch to the Mi A2 Lite.
