Smartisan, founded in 2012, which has its origins in an Android Custom ROM and has been building its own smartphones since 2014, today introduced Smartisan Nut 3, a new mid-range smartphone with its own Smartisan OS version 4.2. As usual with Smartisan, a lot of attention has been paid to the design of the Nut 3 and a really chic smartphone with double glass design has been created. The Smartisan Nut 3 is available in black, red and white. Additionally there are two special editions, which stand out with a coloured band around the frame and offer a few extras for the Chinese market.

The Smartisan Nut 3 is based on a Tri-Bezel-Less design, so it has only a minimal screen border on three sides. Only under the screen is, similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix and Mi Mix 2, a slightly larger edge, which accommodates an 8MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture and a fingerprint scanner. The display comes in 18:9 format and is based on LCD technology. Smartisan uses a 5.99-inch in-cell panel with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels, Gorilla Glass 3 and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. In-Cell technology helps to make the Smartisan Nut 3 as slim as possible. With a housing thickness of only 7.16mm, the device is indeed very slim. The remaining dimensions are 154 x 74.3mm with a weight of 154g.

Inside the Smartisan Nut 3 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor powered by a rather large 4,000mAh battery. It is paired with 4GB RAM and optionally 32GB, 64GB or 128GB memory.

The Smartisan Nut 3 supports Dual Nano SIM cards or alternatively, via a hybrid slot, the memory expansion with a Micro SD card. LTE is supported in addition to 2G and 3G, but without Band 20, which is important in this country, but Band 8 (900MHz), which has recently been increasingly used by Deutsche Telekom, is supported. The WLAN module supports the AC standard and Bluetooth 4.2 as well as GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and BDS are also on board. For the main camera, the Smartisan Nut 3 uses a dual camera consisting of two 13MP f/2.2 sensors with PDAF focus. The camera allows photos with bokeh effect and video recording with up to 4k resolution at 30fps.
