Today I’m going to tell you about my new Android TV Box, the MECOOL BB2 PRO. I’ve been with it for more than 3 months now, so I think it’s a good time to give a contrasting opinion of the device.
I must admit that the MECOOL BB2 PRO has been a leap in quality quite remarkable compared to my old Android box for TV. However, that one behaved like a valkyrie the time she was giving up in the furniture of the salon. It was a TV Box of 20 euros, so we couldn’t ask him too much…
Yes, excellent performance. There’s not much of a downside to this TV Box, at least in terms of efficiency and fluidity. But as Jack the Ripper would say, let’s go by the wayside…
Design and manufacture
In this Chinese Android TV Box, there is not much variety in terms of hardware -we have 3 or 4 types and little else. Besides, most of them are pretty unpleasant to look at. That’s why one of the aspects that I took into account when choosing a new multimedia box was that it had the most attractive design possible.
The MECOOL BB2 PRO features a stylish finish, with an eye-catching case, and a logo that lights up and turns blue when the device is turned on. The materials with which it is made are of above-average quality, which, at least I am very grateful for. Undoubtedly, it is a TV Box that stands out in the aesthetic section.
Power and performance
The MECOOL BB2 PRO features an Amlogic S912 Octa Core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU running at 1.5GHz, Mali-T820 GPU, 3GB of RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage space expandable with Android 7.1 as operating system. Plays content in 4K, and features HDR and H. 265 HEVC.
The difference in performance and application usage is bestial compared to TV Boxes of medium or low range with looser processors. As a user of devices in both ranges, I sincerely believe that the price jump is more than justified, and compensates for a barbarity. Especially if we’re gonna put it to good use.
As far as applications are concerned, Netflix works great, as does YouTube and KODI. I haven’t tried other streaming apps like Amazon Prime or similar, but if you’re curious, just ask me in the comments and I’ll try to answer you.
Another section in which this MECOOL BB2 PRO is handled really well is that of emulation. Performance with classic games from the NES, Super Nintendo, Megadrive and the like is simply exceptional.
In any case, what I would recommend, as with most TV Boxes, is to replace the serial remote control with a controller with an integrated keyboard or an air mouse. Here you have a list of the best remote controllers for Android TV Box.
Ports and connectivity
The BB2 PRO features 2 USB ports, micro SD card slot, HDMI, AV, optical port and LAN port. It has Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and supports WiFi ac and Dual Band (2.4G/5G) networks. As far as I could see, both WiFi and Bluetooth are running smoothly.

Price and availability
The MECOOL BB2 PRO currently has a price of $94.83, about 78 euros per change, in GearBest. A TV Box of excellent value for money. If we’re not willing to spend 200 euros on a Nvidia Shield Android TV, this is the best we can hope for, perhaps along with other devices like Xiaomi Mi TV Box.
