Not only Xiaomi is making great plans for the smartphone year 2018, Vernee will be presenting the latest addition to its Apollo range at the Mobile World Congress 2018. The Vernee Apollo 2 features the powerful Helio X30 processor with a total of ten cores, making it a powerful mid-range smartphone. As far as I know, they have another cell phone will be unveiled in Barcelona: Vernee V2.
You shouldn’t expect too many surprises from the design of the Apollo 2. The focus of the smartphone is on the 5.99 inch display from SHARP. The manufacturer himself calls it an all-screen smartphone. According to the first pictures, however, a borderless design of the two margins can be expected. So it looks more like an Elephone U and U Pro than the MAZE Alpha X with three “rimless” sides. It remains to be seen whether the side edges are slightly bent, as with the Elephone. Vernee makes no compromises when it comes to workmanship and wants to install a metal housing. Due to the thin edges of the screen, the fingerprint sensor moves to the back. The Apollo 2 should be available in black and grey.
The manufacturer has already announced the Vernee Apollo 2 last year. Due to problems in the production of the processor, however, the smartphone was not able to reach the market as quickly as desired. The Helio X30 is a ten-core processor and consists of three clusters. A dual-core Cortex A73 cluster with 2.6 GHz, a quad-core Cortex A53 cluster with 2.2 GHz and a quad-core Cortex A35 cluster with 1.9 GHz clock frequency provide a lot of power. Production in the 10 nm process provides high energy efficiency. Incidentally, Snapdragon 835 is produced in the same process, but the overall performance cannot be compared. Nevertheless, the X30 remains a powerful processor, which is currently only used in the Meizu Pro 7 Plus.
In addition, Vernee has enough 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory. This is the storage combination that has become established for flagship and upper-middle-class smartphones. On the back is a dual camera, consisting of a 16 megapixel and a 13MP sensor. Hopefully the second camera offers real added value and is not just a dummy. On the front is an 8 megapixel camera. Unfortunately, it is not yet clear how large the built-in battery will be. In terms of battery capacity, however, Vernee is usually not stingy. However, it is interesting to note that the Pump Express battery is supported and can therefore be charged quickly. Just as interesting is that the Vernee Apollo 2 with pre-installed Android 8.0 will be released!
Vernee doesn’t use the Apollo 2 for the big guns, but with the Apollo 2 it seems to be a very round smartphone. The Helio X30 is in my opinion a good choice. In connection with the other hardware, Vernee could well find himself in the niche of the upper middle class, which is currently governed by the Xiaomi Mi Note 3. We can hardly wait to hold this and other smartphones in our hands at tomorrow’s MWC. So you can already look forward to some exclusive insights!
