At the beginning of 2018, CUBOT launched their first mobile phone: Cubot X18 Plus, an upgraded version of the Cubot X18 with the better screen, faster running memory and larger battery capacity. When the time came back to 2017, there was a trend of 18: 9 screen in this industry, hundreds of mobile phone manufacturers have introduced this kind of full screen. Cubot X18 was the first fully-available 18:9 full screen mobile phone with excellent workmanship and low price, Launched in July 2017. It received popularity and good sales, either online or offline channels. I think CUBOT is a very pragmatic Chinese mobile phone brand, they have serious attitude towards their stuff. Although without high-end specs, the quality of the CUBOT handsets is outstanding and it takes great emphasis on after-sales service and it has already built after-sales service centers in Europe and Africa. It’s one of the reasons that I like CUBOT.
Let’s come back to the point. I would like to thank CUBOT for sending this Cubot X18 Plus to me, and I might be the first one to get the prototype. Next, I will do a detailed review of it, for such a phone with the price of $130, doesn’t it worth to buy one?
CUBOT X18 Plus design is trendy, the whole device looks very delicate. It has two colors, blue and black. I got the black version. there is a 5.99-inch 18:9 screen in front with rounded corners, the screen to body ratio is high.
We see the back of the body, the Dual cameras and fingerprint ID are placed in a straight line, there are two flash on the right. At the bottom of the back is the “CUBOT” logo.
The volume and power keys are located above the right side of the body, when you hold the phone with you left hand, your index finger can just be placed on the power button, you can easily control the phone screen and bright screen, this is a very user-friendly design.
As Cubot X18 Plus has non-detachable body design, the SIM card is designed on the left of the body which could support two SIM cards, or a SIM card plus a TF card.
The speaker and USB data interface are placed at the bottom of the body, it should be noted that there are two rows of speaker holes, only the one on the right row is valid, the one on the left is decorative. They seem symmetrical, most mobile phone brands such as Xiaomi Huawei also have this design.
The top of the body retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. I personally like the manufacturer put the earphone hole on the top, because I like to put the phone in my pocket when I’m listening to the music.
Compared to the CUBOT X18, this upgraded version of X18 Plus uses a stunning 5.99-inch FullHD+ screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 Pixel, 403 ppi. In addition, it seems slim with 18 : 9 screen and it’s easy to hold by a single hand.
Cubot X18 Plus is the flagship of CUBOT, which is equipped with the MT6750T eight-core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz, the GPU is Mali T860 MP2. MT6750T is very classic in MediaTek’s CPU, it has mid-level performance, the general 3D games can easily deal with. In addition, with the combo of 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM, you could easily use multi-tasking APPs.
Android 8.0 system
Android 8.0 has been installed currently in many renowned phones. Cubot X18 Plus also pre-installed with it, there is no third-party advertising app. This is probably why most people love CUBOT because their software is great.
Cubot X18 Plus has 20.0MP + 2.0MP of rear camera, the main camera 20MP, with AF technology, which could quickly grasp the focus and take stunning pictures! 2.0MP vice shot has good background blur effect. Let’s take a look at the proofs taken with the Cubot X18 Plus:
The Cubot X18 Plus battery capacity is 4000 mAh, which is commendable for a phone with the thickness of body only 8.5 mm. After a few days of my usage, it’s good for heavy users to have 24 hours usage. ( watch video, play games, Facebook, etc.).
