From February 26th to March 1st the Mobile World Congress will take place again in Barcelona. A few days ago it was announced that Xiaomi will be there this time. Of course that makes sense, because last year the European market was opened up. Now in China is just around the rumor that Xiaomi will finally introduce its second processor in the course of the MWC 2018. With the Pinecone Surge S1 you already have an entry-level processor from our own development on offer. The Surge S2 was already mentioned, but not presented.
Now it should finally be ready, and there are already unconfirmed information about the Pinecone Surge S2. If these are correct, then the processor is a chip for the upper middle class. This is allegedly based on four Cortex A73 cores with 2.2 GHz, and four Cortex A53 cores with 1.8 GHz. The graphics are based on a Mali G71 MP8 – 8 execution units. The Pinecone Surge S2 should also provide support for fast UFS 2.1 memory and LPDDR4 RAM. With this feature, the chip would be a strong competitor to the current mid-range chips from Mediatek.
