A few days ago, Samsung introduced its new CPU Exynos 7872, its a mid-range processor that we have already seen in the Meizu M6S. With it, it seeks to displace others already known as the Snapdragon 625. No doubt these two are the best mid-range processors but, which is better?
Let’s go, therefore, to compare the Snapdragon 625 and the Exynos 7872, except for the Snapdragon 652, few competitors have to be superior. In other words, they are two of the best processors that we can find in the middle range. However, there are quite a few differences between them. Is the Snapdragon 625 better? Or the Exynos 7872?
Exynos 7872 vs Snapdragon 625, duel of very solvent processors
While it is true that we have many good alternatives in this range, such as the Kirin 659 or the Mediatek Helio P20, Samsung and Qualcomm dominate the processors sector with an iron hand. Clear example are the two we are dealing with today. These are the specifications of the Exynos 7872 and the Snapdragon 625.
|Samsung Exynos 7872||Qualcomm Snapdragon 625|
|CPU||4x ARM Cortex A53, up to 1.6 GHz + 2x Cortex A73, up to 2 GHz – 14 nm||8x ARM Cortex A53, up to 2 GHz, 14 nm|
|GPU||Mali G71 MP1||Adreno 506|
|Camera||Up to 21.7 MP in the rear camera
Up to 21.7 MP in the front camera
|Up to 24 MP single camera
Up to 13 MP dual camera
|Video||Support up to Full HD at 120fps||Up to 4K Ultra HD at 30 fps|
|Screen||Full HD WUXGA (1920 × 1200)||Full HD + (2160 × 1080)|
Modem: LTE Cat.7 up to 300Mbps
Modem: Snapdragon X9 LTE, up to 300 Mbps
|Location||GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo||GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo|
|Battery||Fast charge||Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0|
Now we can see, in terms of power we will not miss anything, although it is true that we will give a better performance the two A73 cores of the Exynos, which together with four Cortex A53, exceed the Cortex A53 of the Snapdragon 625.
However, in the rest of sections is the Snapdragon 625 who takes the cat to the water. This is evident, for example, in the photographic section, where it has support for a double camera, something that its rival can not say.
The same goes for NFC technology, which is not supported by the Samsung processor. It happens the same with fast charging, which depends on the manufacturer, unlike in the case of Qualcomm, which grants its own charging technology to its processor.
In short, except in terms of gross power, the Snapdragon 625 is a much better processor . We can say that it is the most complete and therefore for which we decided. And is that Qualcomm is very Qualcomm, and Samsung does not manage to stand up to him this time.
