Ulefone Power 3 Short Review

The Ulefone Power 3 has been announced several times in the last weeks. Today, however, the smartphone was introduced. This is why all the features of the third generation of Ulefone Power are now known. The Ulefone Power 3 will be much more powerful than its predecessor. Now a Mediatek Helio P23, flanked by 6GB LPDDR4X RAM is used, which offers better graphics performance with its Mali G71 GPU. Added to this are 64GB memory, which can also be expanded with a Micro SD card, as well as all important sensors and a trendy 6″ In-Cell LCD display in 18:9 format with Full HD+ resolution. The fingerprint sensor is now on the back underneath the double camera. To compensate for the lack of a frontal fingerprint sensor, the Ulefone Power 3 offers support for Face ID. A detailed test must show how well the system works in the end. Unfortunately, not only the frontal fingerprint sensor was deleted, but also the headphone connection. The output now runs via USB Type-C and a corresponding adapter.

Curious: Ulefone still wants to have an AW8736 Hi-Fi chip installed. What exactly this is supposed to achieve, however, is not revealed to us. Hi-Fi chips only make sense in analog output via headphone port. The output on the Type C connector is digital, and is converted either in the adapter or into any Type C headphones that may be used. Ulefons can therefore use as many Hi-Fi chips as they want – and this will not change the sound.

This new Ulefone terminal is an exquisite craftsmanship with an artistic design. The company has made it in two colors so that you can choose according to your tastes: sober black and a golden rose very common in the current terminals. Its dimensions are approximately 15.90 x 7.59 x 0.99cm and has a total weight of 210g.

Something that stands out and which is a constant comparison between devices, is the advantage of having in your hands a terminal that complies with an 18:9 aspect ratio. In this particular case, the Ulefone Power 3 offers us this 2017 trend, added to the full screen mobile that we all dream of.

As already mentioned, the screen is bevelless (especially on the sides), occupying 90.8% of the front panel. It is IPS capacitive, 6.0 inch FHD+ with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. In addition to this we have a density of 402 pixels per inch. It will definitely be an experience to visualize colors and details on this great screen.

To look after our screen, Ulefone has equipped it with the sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 4. This will give it the quality of being anti-scratch and a high durability to certain damages. What’s more, we are promised an estimated survival rate of about 80% compared to other brands and types of screen protection.

Now let’s talk about the technical section, something that needs to be highlighted for all technology lovers. The Ulefone Power 3 will not disappoint us with its built-in Helio P23 processor (MTK6763), the world’s first CPU series to be seen in the world; it will deliver outstanding performance even for the most demanding. It is also eight-core and has a clock speed of 2.0GHz. He is accompanied, in graphic terms, by the ARM Mali-G71 MP2 GPU.

Moving to memory capacities, we will find a ROM of only 64GB, but that will perfectly extend up to 256GB with TF/micro SD memory card. On the other hand, the RAM memory is 6GB, ideal for all our tasks without problems.

Software and OS

Something revolutionary and sure to be a trend by 2018, is facial recognition. However, Ulefone wanted to finish 2017 as one of the pioneers in this technology. So the Power 3 comes with a system to recognize your face and unlock your smartphone in an instant when you turn on the screen. This is considered faster, simpler, more convenient and safer than the fingerprint sensor.

Android Nougat operating system? That’s in the past. And while the Ulefone Power 3 comes with this factory version, it can be immediately upgraded to 8.1 Oreo. Many of the fans have waited for it, it will be faster, smarter and with many more features at your fingertips.

The main camera in this terminal is a dual 21.0MP + 5.0MP camera, which will help you capture every perfect and unique moment of your life. The flash that will allow you to illuminate your dark scenes is also dual, so the brightness in your images will be guaranteed even in the darkest of nights. It even comes with the Bokeh effect feature, which has become so popular in today’s photos.

To the above, an equally dual camera is attached to the front of the camera so that your selfies are the best. The main sensor is a 13.0MP sensor with 5.0MP support as a sub-camera. With this one you will be able to take images with Bokeh effect, you will be able to embellish your self-portraits and you will even be able to photograph yourself with low light intensity, since it comes with an LED flash that gives you greater luminosity in dark shots.

As for connectivity, we will have the basic and common: bandwidth technologies for 2G, 3G and 4G, with the possibility of using dual nano SIM in standby mode; Wifi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1. In addition, for better navigation will have A-GPS, Beidou, GLONASS and GPS.

If facial recognition is not enough, the Ulefone Power 3 also has a fingerprint reader on the rear panel. With an efficiency and speed of 0.1s, identification capability even at 360° and can even configure it to recognize 5 different fingerprints.

It includes the latest C-port technology, with faster transfer and a more stable load that allows you to plug the cable in correctly without worrying about breaking the interface, because either side will be fine.

Last but not least, we have the impressive 6080mAh high density battery. It also comes with quick charge 4.0 compatibility, allowing you to get full power in only 120mins (2 hours).

The announcement that the Ulefone Power 3 comes with Android Oreos turned out to be an air act for the time being. The battery monster should now be shipped with Android 7.1. Android Oreo will soon be available as an update. Soon, of course, is a stretchy term, but one has to admit that Ulefons have always been at the forefront in the past when it comes to upgrading to new Android versions. In this respect, some scepticism does not hurt, but the chances that the upgrade will come soon, as promised, are good.
