When we thought that the new Redmi Note 5 should come out in the coming weeks, it would be Xiaomi’s first medium range to have reduced screen frames, new clues appear on the network to create even more doubts related to the future of the intermediate ranges of the Chinese giant.
Today, thanks to a leak from the Chinese website MyDrivers, there is speculation that the company could soon announce a new member of its affordable segment under the name of Xiaomi R1, whose design would have been confirmed through a image.
A few days ago appeared a supposed Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in real images, a phone that exists and will hit the market soon but … what phone will this be? Now, in a new image of unknown origin (I have been through a Telegram group), another name comes, Xiaomi R1.
Xiaomi R1 is the first affordable bezel-less of Xiaomi
According to the information provided by the person in charge of exposing this image, the Xiaomi R1 would carry the design as the main attraction, with an 18: 9 screen surrounded by margins of very small size. In the images, the physical appearance of the terminal reminds us of what we have seen throughout this year in terminals such as LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8 or Google Pixel 2 XL, among many who have already jumped on the car Bezel-less, a trend that has even splashed into affordable ranges.
In addition, the image shows how the body of the device does not show lines for the antennas, so it would not be unreasonable to think that Xiaomi could have opted for a plastic material to manufacture the body of the terminal , and thus reduce the cost of manufacturing, and therefore, the final price of R1.
The source of this filtration also does not provide information on the technical section of the device, although it does indicate that it will have features such as a fingerprint reader located on the back or a 3.5 mm headphone port.
On the other hand, everything points to the price of the Xiaomi R1 would be 1,499 Yuan, equivalent to 190 euros or 220 dollars. If so, this R1 could take some ground from the supposed Redmi 5 Plus, although it would not be the first time that Xiaomi launches two or more terminals with similar characteristics and prices.
Xiaomi will have a Redmi Note 5 with native Android and another with MIUI
This idea, which has just haunted my head, is not crazy at all. After the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has suffered so many delays, it does not seem at all unreasonable to think that it will have two versions .
I repeat, this idea is mine and I have not seen it on the net but now that the Xiaomi R1 comes to light it seems that something strange is happening. It is possible that everything is a mistake and the Xiaomi R1 ( codename ) ends up being one of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 of the range 5 that is launched on the market.
The R1, with 18: 9 screen and mid-range
If it were that the new Note 5 had an Android One, sure many would be like crazy to see it in stores, this would have a screen of 18: 9 similar to the LG G6, a phone that did not like too much but that would be nothing bad if it cost less than 400 euros.
The Xiaomi R1 will have a high-end design, it seems that it has no front fingerprint reader and would not have a 3.5mm audio jack for the headphones, giving up the FM radio as the Mi A1 has done. If this R1 goes on sale its price to the change would be about 190 euros. Will we see a Redmi Note 5 with another name and native Android? My mouth has water, leave me with my paranoias …
