Alfawise A8 Projector Review

Today we are talking about the economical Alfawise A8 projector that draws our attention to the inclusion of the AmLogic S905X and Android 6.0 CPUs as an operating system. Other truly noteworthy specifications are the support for 4K Ultra HD resolution video and the brightness of 1800 lumens with LED lamp created to last over 20000 hours. We go down in detail and find out more about the Alfawise A8 projector.

Packaging

Very simple white cardboard box, with the projector but well protected inside by a bag of soft sponge for packaging. Inside there are the English user manual, power cord, RCA cable, remote control and small supports to lift the projector.

Although the instruction manual is in English, there are many very clear pictures to facilitate installation:

Design

Made of glossy plastic, Alfawise A8 is compact: it measures 20.50 x 15.00 x 5.50 cm. On the upper part we find all the navigation buttons and two wheels (focus/keystone) to adjust the focus and size of the projected image:

Note the absence of a protective cover for the lens. The connector for power connection is on the side, while on the back we find all ports: 3.5 mm audio connect headphones, AV port, HDMI port, USB port, Micro SD slot, VGA port.

In the lower part, the projector is equipped with non-slip grommets and we also find the housings to which the feet are screwed:

Installation

Once the projector is turned on, the main screen will appear. To connect the projector to our wifi network and watch streaming movies or videos on YouTube, just access from the main screen to “Settings”.

The settings are Android, so it’s really easy and intuitive to scroll through. If from the main screen click on APP, we find already installed: the Internet browser, folder with our files, Gallery, HappyCast, Hulu, Kodi (Krypton 17.4), Netflix, PlayStore, WPS Office, YouTube. We can, of course, add other applications directly from the projector via the Google Play Store.

Of course we can also upload and watch movies via a USB pendrive. Pre-installed there is also WPS Office, for those who want to use the projector to project presentations or work with Word, Excel and Powerpoint. You can also connect keyboard and mouse via Bluetooth. Alfawise A8 is compatible with both PlayStation 4 and Xbox, to completely transform the gaming experience!

Price and availability

The Alfawise A8 projector is available from GearBest. Beware, however, that the cheapest model (BASIC VERSION) does not have an operating system.

Buy Alfawise A8 BASIC VERSION at Gearbest.com for $66.99

Buy Alfawise A8 android VERSION at Gearbest.com for $89.99

Summary

I strongly advise you to buy a screen for projectors: they are not expensive and allow you to have a perfectly white background; if you have exposed bricks, or - like me - cracks or paintings on the wall, it could be the perfect solution.
