Design and display of both terminals
Both devices boast a large 5.5-inch screen. In addition, the quality doesn’t make much difference because it has the same resolution. The two mobile phones are lightweight and ergonomically designed for everyone. At another point where no one has an advantage is in the dimensions, although the weight of the Redmi Y1 does, which acquires 2 grams more than the Redmi Note 5A. In addition to this small change, we did not find any major range of modifications. Up to this point, the two phones are evenly matched with all the phones in the law.
Hardware and software
You’ll know that the competition is tough when you talk about two smartphones that have the same versions of RAM and storage: 3 and 4 GB of RAM and 32 and 64 GB of storage. The battery is also the same capacity for the Redmi Y1 and also for the Redmi Note 5A: 3,080 mAh.
Now, moving away from the hardware of both mobile phones, we find the MIUI 8 customization layer based on Android Nougat. In case you don’t know if these mobile phones will update to MIUI 9, here is the list with all the information. Unlike the Xiaomi A1, which is the brand’s first Android One phone, both the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Note 5A work through the MIUI customization layer.
Photographic section, here comes the good stuff
Up to this point, we can see similar characteristics in the two mobile phones, but what you need to know is that the Redmi Y1 takes the lead when presented with a powerful front camera that brings out the face for the other details of the mobile phone. This is Xiaomi’s first smartphone with front LED flash. In addition, it acquires a 16 MP sensor, f/2.0 aperture, face recognition and 76.4 degree viewing angle. With these specifications, it goes without saying that the results in the selfies will be wonderful for a terminal that is not high-end.
As far as the rear camera of both terminals is concerned, the two mobile phones integrate a 13 MP sensor with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and phase detection focus (PDAF). As you will see, there are no differences, although the Redmi Y1 will have to be analyzed to see the results. Weeks ago we did the analysis of Redmi Note 5A, so we can validate the good catches that have been made with it.
Price and conclusions
The Redmi Y1 has been presented for the sum of 120 euros for the version of 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage; while for the model that integrates 4 + 64 GB, we are talking about 150 euros. The Redmi Note 5A is also available in GearBest for €136.65 in the 3+32GB version. Below you will find the link to buy it.
To conclude, it has to be said that it has been one of the hardest comparisons we have made on the web. This is due to the large number of similarities between them. However, if you talk about value for money, the Redmi Y1 would be the best choice for all selfies lovers. Of course, Xiaomi would not be leaving behind the autonomy that always offers Xiaomi in its mobile phones.
