The Vernee Mix 2 has the number 2 in the name, but is the first almost-edgeless smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer. All information about the smartphone we have summarized in this review.
And daily greets the almost-edgeless smartphone from China! The Vernee Mix 2 is a new 18: 9 smartphone, which was announced at the end of September 2017 and has been available for sale since October. Despite the confusing version number 2, the Vernee Mix is the first almost-edgeless smartphone from the manufacturer. A Vernee Mix as predecessor was never released. Probably it is a “joke” of the manufacturer, with a view of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
As is to be expected, the display is also clearly in the forefront with this smartphone. The IPS display of the Vernee Mix 2 has a diagonal of 6 inches and solves with 2160 x 1080 pixels. The aspect ratio is thus 18: 9. The point density is 402 PPI, which is why a sharp image is to be assumed. The screen-to-body ratio is 93.07%. The screen-to-body ratio is only 77.3%. As is often the case, you should not rely on manufacturer data in the area of the China smartphones! Vernee is silent on display protection.
Processor and memory
The system-on-chip is the MediaTek Helio P25 ( MTK6757CD), launched in early 2017 . The processor consists of 8 Cortex A53 processor cores, which clock at a maximum of 4 x 2.5 GHz and 4 x 1.6 GHz. The Mali-T880 GPU is responsible for the graphical computing performance , which is also compatible with more demanding mobile games. The Vernee Mix 2 storage features a 4GB memory and a 64GB internal flash memory. In addition, the internal memory can be expanded with a MicroSD memory card.
The main camera of the Vernee Mix 2 form two Sony IMX258 image sensors , each with 13 megapixels resolve. The aperture indicates Vernee with f/2.0. As an additional feature, the manufacturer lists optical image stabilization. Whether the smartphone is actually equipped with an optical image stabilization (OIS), will have to show. Normally it is just in the price class around 160 € rather unusual to find an OIS. The front camera uses an unspecified 8 megapixel image sensor.
The mobile phone can be used with two nano-SIM cards simultaneously. The commonly used 2G, 3G and 4G frequency bands are supported. Vernee Mix 2 is also very well-suited to LTE Band 20. For wireless data transmission, the smartphone is equipped with a single-band WiFi module (802.11/b/g/n/). Bluetooth is supported with version 4.2. The position can be determined by GPS, GLONASS and Beidou. The connections of the smartphone amount to a micro-USB socket and a 3.5 mm audio connection. Sensorythe Mix 2 is equipped with a gravity sensor, a gyroscope, an acceleration sensor, an ambient light sensor, an approximation sensor and an e-compass. On the back is a fingerprint scanner, which should unlock the smartphone in less than 0.1 seconds.
Design and battery
The back of the 15.8 x 7.62 x 0.82 cm smartphone is made of glass. The frame is made of metal. The weight of the device is 195g. The permanently installed 4,200 mAh battery promises a long-lasting recharge time. MediaTek’s Pump Express is supported as a quick-loading feature.
Availability, price and initial estimate
The Vernee Mix 2 has been in sale since the beginning of October. The price is about $169.99. The delivery begins at the end of October 2017. Compared to the other almost-edgeless smartphones from China, this device could especially score the display and the dual main camera. The single-band WiFi module and the micro-USB connection provide a bitter taste. Up-to-date would have been the support of dual-band AC WiFi and USB-C. As soon as a test copy of the Vernee Mix 2 reaches us, the detailed test report follows at this point!
