Despite his descent into hell, BlackBerry did not give up. With the BlackBerry KEYone model, the company returned to the market. He maintained his bet by the physical keyboard, but with some characteristics more ambitious than in his previous models. At the time of its launch came with the Nougat version, but already there is confirmation that updates to the new Android Oreo.
What does this mean for the company? Obviously, a much needed boost, because Google brings many important developments with the eighth version of its mobile operating system. In fact, it is already clear that Android Oreo is better than Nougat . However, other BlackBerry devices are going to be left behind.
BlackBerry KEYone is upgraded to Android Oreo
The decisions of this company were in their moment very successful, but soon they stopped being it. At least they opted for Android, a sure bet that has helped them rally the flight. It was rumored that BlackBerry KEYone was going to be able to update to Android Oreo, and now, as it picks up 9to5Google, is confirmed. This version is already coming to these models.
BlackBerry KEYone mates are left behind
Good news for users of this Android with physical keyboard. But there is bad news for those who have a BlackBerry Priv. In Androidphoria today we have confirmed: you will not receive Android 7.0 Nougat. It was the first BlackBerry smartphone to run on Android, and the previous flagship brand. But it will not happen from Marshmallow, the previous version to Nougat. Of course, the company says it maintains the support with the security patches.
Another bad news, although still to be confirmed, is that perhaps the devices of the DTEK series could also be left without updating to Android Oreo. According to the media cited, TCL, the maker of BlackBerry devices, does not show any intention for these models to receive the new Android. A shame, because for example BlackBerry DTEK60, which arrived less than a year ago, has some very interesting high-end features.
It is clear that the firm bets on BlackBerry KEYONE as its star model. The update to Android Oreo proves this. We will have to see how the next terminal will be presented, which will presume to be the first mobile phone waterproof BlackBerry. At the moment only KEYone will try the Oreo cookies.
