Honor is working to bring the Android 8.0 Oreo update to their smartphones, but it seems that the first to have this update will be the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 6X.
The information was posted on XDA-Developers forums, where a user got official confirmation on the subject during a recent fan meeting held in Delhi, India. According to this user, Honor will introduce Android 8.0 Oreo in the Honor 8 Pro before the end of December 2017 , and the 6X Honor will receive the update in January 2018.
The Honor 8 Pro was released in April 2017 with Android 7.0 Nougat with Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.1 at the top. The 6X Honor was introduced in October 2016 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with EMUI 5.0, and was later released in India in February 2017. This latest model is upgradeable to Android 7.0 Nougat which means that Android Oreo will be the second software the device.
The first, Honor 8 Pro, will take priority in receiving Android Oreo at the end of the year. As for the new features implemented in the last update, Android Oreo introduces an image to image mode to improve multitasking, as well as the new notification points feature that allows users to view notifications from the application directly from the application shortcut (as it happens in iOS). Android Oreo should also slow down boot times and further enhance security with the addition of Google Play Protect.
