BlackBerry to launch its first waterproof smartphone

Years ago BlackBerry knew the key to succeed with their devices that incorporated QWERTY keyboard and BBM chat system. However, back in 2009, after its growth by giant steps began its fall. From there, Android and messaging applications like WhatsApp began to tread very strongly until they reach what they are today: the world’s most widely used mobile operating system and the leading application with more than 1 billion users daily.

Although last year BlackBerry announced that it stopped making mobiles, it tried again trusting to TCL the production of devices running Android. Since then we have seen models like DTEK60, a terminal with high-end features, or BlackBerry KEYone, with a design that bets again on the physical keyboard. During this spring we learned about BlackBerry Aurora, with mid-range specifications that surely will not reach our market. And now comes news about the first BlackBerry smartphone waterproof. Can you give the necessary boost to the firm’s catalog?

BlackBerry wants to revive with this smartphone

At the time, BlackBerry triumphed among students thanks to its messaging system. But there is no doubt that it has always been more focused on business. And your next device looks like it will also target this sector. At the moment it is only known by its technical name: BBD100-1. As it gathers Androidguys portal, it will be a medium range without physical keyboard whose main novelty will be the resistance to both water and dust.

This IP67 certification ensures the survival of the smartphone when immersed in water for half an hour and to a maximum depth of one and a half meters. In addition to this feature, it seems that it will also feature FullHD and a large battery. The media quoted indicates that under the hood will mount a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (or 626), accompanied by a RAM of 4 GB.

These days we will know all the details of this new terminal that pretends to be a rival for giants like Samsung in the business sector. BlackBerry will present it at the IFA. An incomparable setting because it is the largest consumer technology fair held every year in Berlin. Everything points to it will be a DTEK but mid-range. Hopefully the price will be competitive enough to attract attention.
