Sennheiser HD 201 Review

The Sennheiser HD 201 does not have to hide behind its larger brother HD 203 in many points despite the much lower price. Especially the wearing comfort is somewhat better with a larger head circumference. And the sound in the face of the price of under 20 euros more than decent.

For beginners everywhere, the Sennheiser HD 201 is highly recommended: anyone who is dealing with headphones for the first time can not go wrong here. In the studio, the closed dynamist convinces with sensible damping of the outside noise and long-lasting comfort. And, of course, the logo of a brand manufacturer, which should also be an idea for customers who are not familiar with professional audio equipment – that can be quite useful from time to time.

The road price of 19.50 euros before the first test does not spur great expectations, but from this Sennheisers fight to the Billigheimer under the headphone manufacturers should not be deceived: the processing is faultless and also with much more expensive headphones not always in this quality to find. The design is simple and functional, but the wearer’s comfort is more than the spaceier design of the HD 203 from Sennheiser mentioned at the beginning.

The ear pads can be exchanged, also not necessarily a self-evident in this price class. Although it has not been enough for a folding mechanism, the Sennheiser HD 201 can be casually worn around the neck for a while without having to be an orthopaedist at a weight of only 166 grams.

The manufacturer promises powerful bass sound and the low notes can actually convince, but less because of their strength. It is much more than that of the Sennheiser HD 201, which gives black music balls and boobies.

The mids also sound a bit filthy, as you would expect from a sound system at an illegal party in a disused factory, especially in low-bass music, a little indifferent in the face of the low frequencies, like the exhausts of a ripper.

The heights are, in turn, reproduced in a solid and surprisingly precise way in the room. The Sennheiser HD 201 did not necessarily have this broad spectrum.
